Intervention types

The idea of undergoing breast surgery is an understandable source of anxiety.

Surgeons at the hopital listen very carefully to your councerns throughout the duration of your treatment.

The surgeons and their team work towards coordinating a holistic and multi-disciplinary approach to the treatment of both benign and malign conditions.

They will help you to identify and select the surgical solution that provides the best possible choice between the desired therapeutic and aesthetic results.

The first stage is breast cancer surgery …

Depending on the diagnosed form of cancer, the surgeon will propose the most effective surgical treatment solution on offer at the Institute:

  • onco-plastic surgery techniques for the best aesthetic results
  • mastectomies where the flap and nipple can be maintained
  • sentinel lymph-node and axillary draining technique
  • immediate reconstruction by plastic surgeon
  • surgical treatment of high risk BRCA mutation carrying patients

… then reconstructive surgery.

The Institute’s surgeons will propose a number of reconstructive options to minimise the trauma of the cancer surgery and improve your quality of life:

  • reconstruction using a tissue expander or breast implant
  • latissimus dorsi muscle flap reconstruction using skin and muscle tissue from the back, with or without implants
  • TRAM flap reconstruction
  • total or partial breast reconstitution using grafts of fatty tissue
  • free flap reconstruction using microsurgery (DIEP…)
