Standard adult and paediatric electrocardiography

This key procedure still remains an essential clinical cardiovascular examination. The ECG records the electrical impulses emitted by the heart on a sheet of paper. This provides the means to calculate heart-rate. This procedure is essential to diagnostic coronary disease, especially myocarditis. It can show the effects of various cardiovascular conditions (including high blood pressure), verify heart-rhythm and conduction problems and monitor the effects of certain medications.

Readings taken for child patients are interpreted by Doctor Stefanie WALTER-BRUNEAU, cardio-paediatrician, Paris Hospital Physician, Part-time hospital physician at the Louis Mourier Hospital, Colombes). Adult ECG readings are interpreted by Doctor Dominique de ZUTTERE, cardiologist, Paris Hospital Physician, member of the French Cardiology Association.
